Rat Race

Ahhh, Rat Race. This game has been through so many iterations and design changes that it almost didn't survive (and still may not). It's gone though half a dozen publishers and just as many major design overhauls. When I worked on it, it was going to be a Playstation 3 exclusive title. Working with the PS3 was a lot of fun, though very challenging in many different ways. The architecture is just so vastly different than a PC or any other console so the learning curve is very steep. When we were in full production during this time, the game really looked better than it ever had. We had a real designer working for us who was top-notch and had a pretty slick dev team. Those were probably the best of times at Super-Ego Games and I will always think about them fondly.

I worked on a lot of different systems in this game such as the mini-map, the input system, the camera manager, the wardrobe, the bonus buck system, the AI, and the Lua integration. I touched just about every aspect of the game engine at one time or another.
