Brain Quest

When I left Super-Ego Games, I went to work for a company called Planet Moon Studios. During my first three months there, I worked on Brain Quest for the DS. Brain Quest is an IP that's been around for quite some time, usually showing up as a set of flash cards for various school subjects of various grades. We did the 3rd/4th and 5th/6th SKU's. The DS game is very much like the traditional product in that there are a ton of questions of various different subjects that you go through and complete. As a reward, you get points that can be used to purchase stickers that you unlock. There's a neat little quest mode and a Sudoku game on top of the core game play as well. We did the game in 3.5 months, even though it should have taken us 6 months. Eek!

My main contributions to this game were Sudoku, the achievements system, and parts of the sticker book.

There were two events that made all the hard work and long hours we put into this game worth it. The first is when a co-worker of mine (who never worked on the project) said that she had a friend whose kids play the game. The second was a similar event, where a recruiter saw it on my resume and said that her kids played it and loved it. Those are the moments I live for. :)
